Good day brothers and sisters. It is a truly beautiful day that we have here, and we must give thanks to the Lord our God, and we should Love him back for this great Love he has shown to us. So let us keep his commands with diligence and let us stay faithful to Jesus Christ. Let us come to Mass to worship The Lord, and to become united with The Lord through the Holy Eucharist. Let us also Love God by communicating with our Lord through prayer, the way he taught us.
Let us know the importance of prayer. When we pray to the Lord our God, we are communicating with our Father, the Creator of the Universe. It is important to know this so that we may stay loving toward our Father who created all things, and so have a deep connection and deep love for the one who created us and willed us into existing by his Holy and Perfect Will. When we do truly pray to the Lord our God, we do know what to do from him, and we are filled with Wisdom and Love, key virtues to have in this life, so that we may not worry at all, to not sin as much as possible, and of course to inherit the unfading Crown of Glory (
1 Peter 5:4). And to help you know the importance of prayer, take this little story for example: The King of a great army wanted to know how to purge the enemy who was doing evil, so he sent out people to recon the enemy, two in total. One person came back, but was unable to talk since he along the way caught a severe cold that caused him unable to talk. The other person came back, and talked in detail what the enemy positions were. The King was pleased with this report, for it was great communication as to what the King should plan out. This shows that we must be in communication with God in Prayer, for when we do, we know exactly what to do, no matter the situation.
And let us understand what we are praying for too. Whenever we pray the Our Father, we are praying the way that Christ Jesus taught us to pray, and so this is good for us to do. The Our Father Prayer is shown below, from Matthew 6:9-13, New Catholic Bible:
Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
First, we address God as our Father, for he truly is our Father, for he loves us truly and deeply and willed us into this world, just like the father of a household is to his children. We also proclaim that his name is Holy, for that is the truth: God is Holy in all ways, and we should imitate those virtuous values as well. His Kingdom, the Kingdom of God has truly come, for the Kingdom is his Holy Church, and all who are in communion with the Holy Spirit and the Chruch are in the Kingdom of God. We also proclaim that his will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For we want his perfect will to be done forever and always. For God knows what is best for us. We also ask God to give us this day our daily bread, to take care after us. He takes care of our hunger, our thirst, our shelter, our clothing, our monetary needs, and all the other worldly things we actually need to continue in this life. And God knows what we need, so we only need to say it once. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, for we are in true need for God's forgiveness, and the best way to receive this forgiveness is to forgive others all the time, no matter the situation, the crime, or the person. If we forgive, then God will forgive us. And to lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, we ask God to help us in our trials and temptations so as to not sin before him, but to persevere for him, and so purify ourselves by winning over evil.
And finally, how do we pray? We must pray according to what Jesus Christ taught in
Matthew 6:7-15 and
Luke 11:1-13. Do these things, for Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through him. Pray the Our Father first, for it is the perfect prayer, and then ask God for any other petition or request. Pray other prayers from the Church if you would like. You must pray all this faithfully though, for without faith, it will not happen, but with faith and belief, it will happen, as long as it is according to the Lord's perfect and good will.
Know these things brothers and sisters, for they are very important. May God bless you all, and make sure that you can hear God's voice in prayer, which you can read about in
