Prayer, growing in knowledge through the Word, and taking off the old and putting on the new are things I forgot to mention in the Discussions page. To prepare for an important ministry it is very important to grow close to God and listen to His Word, which is realized through the Bible, and by taking off the old flesh and putting on the new self. We must also be condemning and putting to death the old fleshly laziness and lusts, which would only hinder ministry. For it is necessary to be walking in the new self in the Light of Christ, rather than the darkness which is sin. Remember this verse; “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” (1 Corin 9:27) We must be disciplined ourselves in order to preach/teach others, if not, that would be hypocrisy, so yes, we are to “be holy, just as our Heavenly Father is holy”. Thus, using discipline, when God calls us to serve His people, we are ready, and being knowledgeable in the Word and having a personal relationship with Christ, we are prepared to be used by God. These should be sort of a foundation to serving in a ministry; more on Love, service, and the warning of speech in the Discussion page.
