Matthew 6:24

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

The Word of our Lord Jesus Christ

Mammon here can be defined as wealth or material possessions, but can also refer to false gods, which can become idols. These idols can be anything or anyone that is apart from God and His Holiness, and this verse especially tells us that we cannot serve both. I myself have tried to serve both this mammon and God, and soon found out it is impossible. We cannot be children of God while living a life of sin, and we cannot love God if we continue to love the things of the old flesh. There are many lukewarm "Christians" in this day and age that may be living this lifestyle of sin in secret and outwardly appear godly, or "Christians" who do not sacrifice themselves to God because they care more for the world than God and His will. However, the Word here once again reminds us that we cannot serve two masters, because either we sacrifice the things of the flesh for the Heavenly treasures, or we don't. Either we love God by repenting or despise God by continuing to sin, for there is no in between. Therefore, we must be careful to not be led astray, remaining steadfast, and always in communion with the One True God by prayer, the Word, and Christ's Body. Keep going my brothers and sisters in Christ, and don't let the world consume your life, but remain in the God Who has led you this far always, Amen.
