Remember that Jesus does have the authority to put down his life and raise it up again. And also remember that this was God's plan after all: to sacrifice his only Son to save us all from sin. Even though it was gruesome to even think about, this was in fact the greatest act of Love in all of Biblical history, because Jesus loved you so much, that he was willing to die and suffer on the cross for you to live, to finally take away your sins. So even though the crucifixion was sickening to watch and read about, it was ultimately the greatest act of Love for us all, to be saved. And Jesus was raised from the dead three days later anyways.
