Did Jesus mean that in a literal sense that if you’re to be rich on earth, it’s impossible to enter Heaven, or a metaphorical sense? There’s another passage like this where Jesus makes a statement, “Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.’ “(John 3:5). Now water here means Baptism, but does that make baptism necessary for entering the kingdom of God, or what if you’re a Christian but don’t want to be baptized, does that not make you a true Christian?

The rich man admitted that he has kept the commandments of God with diligence. Jesus then says that he lacks one more step, and that is to follow Jesus, but the thing that is blocking his way into following Jesus are his greed, materialism, and care for the things of this world, hence his riches. Because the rich man was unwilling to change his way of thinking (repent) and let go of the riches, he left Jesus, and therefore he left eternal life. Therefore the reason why Jesus said what he said is that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle (impossible) than for a materialistic rich man to inherit eternal life, because he chose to care for the things of this world, not the heavenly things of Jesus Christ. Another observation is that the eye of a needle is a specific location, specifically the special door a camel had to walk through that was just big enough for the camel, but not for all the cargo and luggage that it carried. In order for the camel to go through the eye of the needle, it needed to let go of its worldly luggage in order to enter the city. It's ok to have money, but if you become a slave to money, you idolize money, then it is sin, because you have become a slave to greed, the idolization of money. And that was the rich man's problem.

At May 26, 2026, 9:20 a.m. Real_The_Founder said: For the second passage: it is necessary for us to be Baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, for Jesus himself said that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, and furthermore, go out into the world and preach the Gospel to all creation, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. It is impossible to be a Christian and not want to be baptized. Being baptized simply means the ritual in which we are united to Jesus Christ and brought into his Church, therefore becoming one of his sheep in his flock. We are called to imitate Christ, and so since he was baptized it should be nessasary for us also to be baptized just like Jesus. If you reject Baptism and still call yourself Christian, you are not a true Christian, because you are not behaving and living like the very first Christians, and the Early Church. They were the ones who lived closest to Christ's time; surely they know more better than us right?
