Discussion: How do you get back up after sinning?

Discussion Description:
On the road to holiness and unity with Christ there are many temptations, unholiness and sin. The question is after you’ve stumbled into a snare, how do you get back up? Especially for cycles of sin where it will likely haunt you for the rest of your life, how do you keep going even though you know it’s a cycle? And is there a way to truly repent from a “lifelong” sin (or just a hard sin to stop that hinders your relationship with God, no matter how big or small)?

At May 9, 2026, 9:25 p.m. Real_The_Founder said: I repent immediately, in that in the moment I pray the Jesus Prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have Mercy on me a Sinner." And then when I have time later that day, I would go into very deep prayer, praying for forgiveness of the sin I committed, praying a lot of the Jesus Prayer, and expressing my deep repentance, and of course forgiving all who have crossed me in that prayer so that I myself would receive forgiveness from God. I would also ask God how to deliver me out of those sins. Finally, when Holy Confession comes, I go there to be forgiven by the authority of the Church.
