Christ is in our midst my brothers and sisters! Today is a very good day, a very wonderful day that the Lord has marked, for today is Pentecost Sunday, the very exact day in which the Holy Spirit was given to the Apostles, and so the life of the Church began. So let us remember this day as a wonderful day that the Lord has made, both right now in the present and in all of history.
Let us know my brothers and sisters what exactly happened on Pentecost. It has been 50 days since the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who by this glorious and wonderful and even freeing work of Grace and power, freed us sinners from the chains of the evil one, and who gave to us the path to having God's Love. 40 days after his glorious resurrection, he ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of God the Father. This was nessasary to take place, for in order to give humanity the gift of God's Grace that will renew humanity back into fully fulfilling the image of God that humanity was created in, Jesus had to die on the Cross, rise from the dead, and then be seated at the right hand of the Father, and to rule his Kingdom with power from there. His Kingdom is his Church. And by being seated at the right hand of the Father and ruling with great power, he can then finally send the Holy Spirit to us, and so finally fulfill the Prophecy that you have read above, and allow all the path of partaking in the divine nature, all in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And so then the Holy Spirit was given to the Apostles on this very day Pentecost. And so on this very day, a few things are realized: one, that God has never ever abandoned the human race, and has always kept in mind the salvation of humanity from sin, which is separation from God. Two, that the Church as we know it today was started on this very day, and three, to those who are willing to accept it, God gives his full and intimate Love.
Think of this my brothers and sisters; on this very day, Pentecost, God decides to give the fullness of his love to humanity by sending down the Holy Spirit to literally indwell in people who are faithful and loving to Jesus Christ the Son. This is not a faraway myth, nor is it impossible to have, but this is rather a living reality for many Christians who are literally united with the Holy Spirit, as he remains in us, and we in him. This also goes to show us that for us who are faithful and loving Christians, those of us who have repented and have been enlightened too act according to the will of God, that we are never ever alone. Just think of the Apostles on this very day when they received power from the Descent of the Holy Spirit. Ever since this day they have had courage, stronger faith, stronger spiritual warfare, more intimate love for God, and more united with God. They lived in this very way for the rest of their lives, for the Holy Spirit truly transforms the lives of those who allow him to.
And so upon all of these observations, lessons, and teachings of this Pentecost Sunday, this is the key lesson: because God has sent down the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and in turn the Apostles have imparted to us the Holy Spirit, a life with the Holy Spirit indwelling within us is truly possible, a life filled with joy and eternal happiness filled with the Holy Spirit is indeed a plausible reality, and a life united with God is indeed fit for us. Let us therefore pay close attention to the teachings of the Holy Church, of Jesus Christ, and of the Apostles and their successors, and never ever giving up our faith, but growing always in our faith in Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
