From 1968-1971, the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, appeared over a Coptic Orthodox Church at Zeitoun in Egypt, a predominantly Muslim country. Hundreds of thousands of people witnessed the supernatural appearance of the Mother of God, and is well-documented among many people, and photographs.

This is definitely without a doubt a real-deal appearance of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. It is even more significant that the Mother of God appeared over a Coptic Orthodox Church, a Church that adheres to the true and faithful teachings of Jesus Christ and his Apostles. This is showing that yes, Jesus Christ is risen, and the Virgin Mary is sinless and the Mother of God.

Good day brothers and sisters! It's another wonderful day the Lord has made for us. So let us rejoice and be glad! It is also very kind a loving that the Lord our God gives us signs and wonders to strengthen our faith and love in him, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Some of these signs are supernatural, completely out of this world, and others are called scientifically inexplicable, meaning science could not provide a logical scientific explanation of the miracle. And one of the most powerful signs that God has given us is the appearance of The Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, over a Coptic Orthodox Church over the Church of Zeitoun.

This miracle happened on a regular basis, in that the Mother of God, between the years 1968-1971 appeared over Saint Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church in Zeitoun, a place where the Holy Family, Saint Joseph, The Virgin Mary, and Jesus Christ, stopped when they were fleeing King Herod's order to murder all children under the age of two. The Mother of God appeared on an average weekly basis over the Church during this time, especially on the feast days. Thousands upon thousands of people bore witness to the great appearance of The Virgin Mary over the Church, which includes Christians all around the world, Muslims, and even some Marxists. The appearance of the Mother of God really strengthened the faith of all who saw her over the Church.

Of course there is a story to this: It all starts in 1920, when a Coptic Orthodox Christian, named Tawfik Khalil Abraham, wanted to build a hotel where Saint Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church now stands. He was about to build the hotel when, the Mother of God appeared to him in a dream, requesting that he would build a church there in her honor. So, being obedient, he built the church for her, completed in 1925. During Mary's appearance, she promised to perform a sign there sometime in the future if the church was built. The Virgin Mary kept her promises and did the signs from 1968-1971. Her first appearance happened when there were two Muslim garage attendants doing their job when they saw the Blessed Virgin Mary on top of the Coptic Orthodox Church. However, they thought that it was an ordinary woman about to jump, to which they cried "Lady, don't jump!" But soon a small crowd gathered, and they all realized that the figure was not ordinary, but extraordinary, as it was the Blessed Virgin Mary herself.

And so from that time on, for three whole years The Virgin Mary appeared quite consistently only on Saint Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church. She was floating upon on the roof of the Church, but she spoke no words, simply in a prayerful position, sometimes staying in the same spot for a few hours upon the Church, and of course acknowledging the crowd that gathered around her, smiling to them, and blessing all of them with her hands, showing just how loving Mary is, especially to Christians who follow her son, Jesus Christ. Many other signs followed as well, so much so that the Egyptian government, predominantly Muslim, has to acknowledge that something supernatural was occurring at the Coptic Orthodox Church. It was a total win for all Christians.

Mary was also not obscure to see. Eyewitnesses note that they could see her teeth clearly whenever she smiled to the crowd. Others noted that there were rays of light coming out of her hands, and a bright halo over her head. She was not stiff like a statute, but there was movement of the body and of the clothing, as Bishop Athanasius noted at that time. She was also very quiet and peaceful. Sometimes she was seen carrying an Olive Branch, other times the infant Jesus, and still others the twelve-year-old Jesus, or with Saint Joseph. This Marian apparition really showed that yes, God is with us, and the Saints who pleased God are with us who love and please Christ.

It also goes to show that God still works miracles today. Even though we are around 2000 years after Jesus Christ's resurrection and the Apostles, God still shows us signs and wonders and works miraculous miracles. For we Christians worship a living God, the God that created us, and is loving to us. When we deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Jesus Christ, we truly become alive to God, and we experience the goodness of God always. When we repent of our sins, and turn to Christ, we truly taste and see the Lord's goodness, and in intimate fellowship with Chrisy our Lord, we become dead to sin, and alive to Christ. Of course, God knows whenever we have our faith weakened or shaken, so he shows us these great signs to strengthen our faith in him, and to show to us that he is truly with us, to the very end of the age, helping us always to follow his Son, and so become alive to God Almighty.

Our Lady of Zeitoun truly shows us how loving God is, for by the appearance of the Virgin Mary, we know that what we believe is indeed true, and that God is protecting us, and the Saints and The Theotokos (meaning Mother of God), are always with us in our journey with Christ Jesus our Lord. We can always ask for their help, and they will help us, no matter what.
