Yesterday on March 5th, 2025, Lent has started for all believers in Jesus Christ, the 40-day period in which we grow closer to Jesus Christ through our faith in him, our prayers to him, a fasting of some sort, and a service for God in some way. It is a beautiful window of opportunity for Christians to grow their faith in Jesus Christ, from reading more of God's word from the Bible to more prayer with God.

So, with that being said, what should a Christian do this Lent season to grow their faith in Jesus Christ?

It is not hard to do. You can start by praying more per day to Jesus Christ the way Jesus commanded us to do (see Matthew 6:5-15 and Luke 11:1-13). Pray with faith in God, because he will always hear your prayers, for he is not slow to hear.

Also acknowledge that you are sinful and imperfect, and so repent your sins and sinful self, and affirm your faith in Jesus Christ that he has taken away your sins and sinful nature, and has given you life through his Holy Spirit (see Luke 13:1-9 and Romans 6:1-14). For God did in his everlasting Love for us gave us Jesus Christ, so that he may die as the ultimate sacrifice for all sins to be taken away from us sinners, so that we may not be sinners anymore, but righteous people through his Holy Spirit, to which he gives the people who put their faith in him.

A good practice to do also this Lent season is to buy a Bible (The NIV Version for simplicity, accuracy, and understanding), and read the Bible every single day. Start at the Gospels, in that you may have more understanding of the Life of Jesus Christ, his teachings, and the theology associated with Jesus Christ, so that you will truly know the way to Eternal Life, the way Jesus Christ preaches it. Try to read at least one chapter a day, but reading more per day will help your spiritual well-being.

The last thing to do this Lent season is to also keep Jesus' commands, found throughout the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The thing to remember is if you do truly love Jesus Christ, you will keep his commands and so live a righteous life through the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:13-26 and John 14:15).

These are just the starting steps in your Lent journey to growing closer to Jesus Christ. As always, remember that Jesus Christ saw you worth dying for on the cross, and that he is always with you, to the very end of the age. Grace and Peace be with you all from God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ!
