The Parable of the Good Samaritan is one of the most well-known parables of Jesus Christ, in that its message could be practiced every single day. Jesus tells that there was a man who was beaten to the point of death, and he was on the side of the road. A priest saw him, but passed by as if nothing were there. Likewise a Levite, someone highly regarded as a good person, saw him, but did nothing about it and passed by. Then a Samaritan, who was looked down upon all the others, saw him, and took pity on him. He took him, and cared for him, gave him food and water, put proper clothing on him, bandaged him up from the wounds, and paid for all the expenses concerning the man (See Gospel above, Luke 10:25-37).

So, how can we be like the Good Samaritan in our everyday lives? If Jesus tells us to go and do likewise, what should we do?

If you see someone sick, go to them, and help them in any way you can until they are feeling better. It does not matter if they are strangers or a friend; you must care for them like the Good Samaritan. If you see someone who is hungry or thirsty, give them some of your food and water, so that they may be filled and happy again. If you see someone who is tired and angry, comfort them so that they may be rested and calm. Again, it does not matter if the person is a stranger or not; care for them, for you will be doing the Lord's work.

So go, and help those who are suffering. Even if they turned you away, you will know that you have done right, and not wrong. Be the Good Samaritan, just as Jesus Christ tells us to be.
